Hit Points, also referred to as Health Points or HP, are a measure of how much damage is done to the Player or an object. The numbers that appear represent how much damage is done. The health bar consists 10 hearts. When hit, Mobs and Players have 6 ticks of invulnerability. Tiles have no invulnerability. The icon of HP are hearts.

Mobs

Mobs have a varying set of health that is decided by their color. Using a Sword will do more damage to a mob. The sound when mobs take damage is mobs hurt or tile breaking sound depending on the version.

Mobs can drop items ranging 0-4, and a rare item.

Player

The Player will start with 10 max HP, which can be increased using Obsidian Hearts during End Game. The new max HP upon consuming an obsidian hearts is 30 HP, increases by 5 each heart consumed. The player will receive no damage in Creative, however there is health that’s recorded if you were in Survival. HP can be restored using health or regeneration potions or Hunger Points 6 and above. You will take damage when you receive attacks from mobs, when stamina is at zero while swimming, or hunger is at zero. The sound when the player takes damage is the player hurt sound.

Tiles

Tiles also have a varying amount of health. The amount of health per tile is dependent on the tile type. Tile health will decrease faster depending on the type of tool used. Tiles are destroyed in one hit in Creative mode.

Tiles will drop items or no items depending on the Tile.

Death

Both the Player and Mobs can die. When a mob dies, it will drop its respective drops. If the player dies, they will drop their whole inventory. If they are in Hardcore mode, the world is deleted. Players respawn when they die and spawn a Death Chest that can be retrieved by the player and despawn in 2 and a half minutes, will flash red when at 30 seconds are left. Items drop when the Death Chest despawn.
